11 Haikyuu Season 1 Moments to Relish!!!

We tend to watch our favourite series multiple times and Haikyuu season 1 is one such anime that ranks top on our rewatch list of animes. This post shares 11 Haikyuu season 1 moments to rewatch

1. Yukigaoka vs Kitagawa Dai-ichi

Hinata ‘s First match Junior High was straight away with Kitagawa Daichi – a volley ball powerhouse. Hinata excited for his first match only to be disappointed later along with his made-up team (Since his school didn’t have a volleyball team of its own) meets Kageyama Tobio – Kitagawa’s Setter.

Disappointed and dejected after losing the game, Hinata was confronted by Kageyama angrily thinking that Hinata was wasting his talent. After the match determined Hinata challenges Kageyama saying that he will be the last one standing on the court whenever they meet next.

2. Hinata-Kageyama first quick

Kageyama tells Hinata to get to his maximum jump point at maximum speed to spike Kageyama’s fast toss. When Kageyama tosses the ball with pin point precision Hinata spikes the ball making it a super quick.

But to everybody’s astonishment Hinata’s eyes were closed when he was hitting the ball. Even Kageyama couldn’t believe it. But Hinata only option was to trust Kageyama for a good toss for him to spike and stay on the court.  

3. Hinata’s open-eyed quick

In the match against Aoba Josai when Karasuno is at match point in its 3rd set, Hinata one touches the spike of Kindaichi and quickly runs to the other end of the court. Where he hits a quick with an open eye towards Oikawa.

4. The Return of Karasuno’s Ace

After facing utter defeat from Date Tech, Karasuno’s ace Azumane Asahi felt that it is his fault for the team’s defeat. Asahi left the team after being utterly shut down by the blockers of the Date Tech. Dejected Asahi thought he will never play volleyball again.

But Hinata and Kageyama tries to persuade Asahi to re-join the team. When Asahi visits the gymnasium, he is dragged into a friendly match. Where he feels that his love for volleyball is still there and he wants to continue playing volleyball with his newly formed team.

5. Hinata’s New Quick Attack

Until now Hinata solely relied on Kageyama’s pinpoint toss but during the match with Nekoma, Hinata’s spike started to get blocked by Nekoma’s Middle Blocker Inouka who gets used to Hinata’s quick.

Hinata enjoys this new sensation of being blocked and thrill when the opponent’s blocker desperately attempts to block his quick. He feels the need for a new attack style since there will be more such instances.

6. The Flightless Crow

Karasuno being a former powerhouse is often called “The Flightless Crow” or “The Fallen Champions”. Karasuno struggled to regain its previous glory during its former tournaments. But with the new addition Karasuno is all set to show that they are no longer the flightless crows. Their determination can be seen in their match against Tokonami.

7. Rolling Thunder Again

After their first win against Tokonami, Karasuno is set to play against Date Tech but their anxious especially their third-year players due to their previous experience of total shut out by the Date Tech blockers.

While everyone is anxious during the receiving practice before the match, Nishinoya performs a magnificent receive “Rolling Thunder Again”. Seeing this, their anxiousness vanishes and Nishinoya tells them that he will have their back as a Libero.

8. Hinata – The ultimate decoy

Hinata doesn’t like the idea of being a decoy but gradually during the match with Date Tech Hinata realizes how important a decoy is. He realizes that being a decoy helps open up path for other spikers in the team and thus help the team score.

During the match with the help of Hinata, Asahi is able to break through the impregnable Date Tech wall which totally shut Asahi off during his previous face-off with Date Tech.

9. Karasuno’s Ace

During a long rally when nothing works the team depends on ace to score the point. When Karasuno is going for the match point against Date Tech, Kageyama tosses the ball to Asahi even though he is shut out by the blockers of Date Tech.

This shows the confidence of members of Karasuno on their ace Asahi to score the point. Asahi scores the point without the help of Hinata being the decoy, boosting the moral of the team and Asahi for their upcoming matches.

10. Kageyama’s One hand toss

In the second set when Seijoh is at match point, Kageyama makes a one-hand set to Hinata from a point very close to the net. Hinata spikes the ball and Karasuno Deuce the 3rd set giving hope to them.

11. No more a Solitary King

During his junior high, Kageyama used to be self-conceited and player which gave him the title of King of the Court who rules his side of a court like a dictator giving orders without considering his teammates.

This seems to change when Kageyama plays as the member of Karasuno, he is slowly starting to understand his teammates and play in cooperation with them making him a real King of the Court from a solitary King.
